Finland international Joni Kauko is confident they will at least get a goal against Italy in tomorrow’s Euro 2020 qualifier.

It kicks off on Sunday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT) in Tampere.

“If we defend well, then we’ll probably also get some chances to score goals,” Kauko told Tuttomercatoweb.

“We usually find the net, so it’s just about figuring out how Italy will attack us and blocking them off.”

Finland have won all four games in their Euro 2020 qualifying group since the opening 2-0 defeat to Italy and sit in second place, so could reach the tournament for the first time ever.

“Anything is possible in football. At times, you don’t need great technique and super players, but a strong team spirit. We topped our Nations League group too, so we proved that wasn’t a blip. It’s wonderful the confidence we have in ourselves at this moment.

“I don’t know how many years it has been since Finland picked up points against Italy, but we are in great shape, want to give our best and play the way we have done so far.

“We want to win and it all depends on how the game develops. If we have 10 shots on goal and only draw, then we’d be disappointed with that result.”
