The forward had been set to arrive in Turin in a transfer merry-go-round that would’ve also taken Fabio Quagliarella to Roma, plus Marco Borriello to Genoa.
It all fell apart when Coach Antonio Conte slammed the brakes on any deal that would involve losing Quagliarella.
According to Tuttosport, Juve have not lost hope of taking Gilardino, especially after the 31-year-old scored Italy’s winner against Bulgaria on Friday.
The Turin-based newspaper claims negotiations have resumed to bring Gila to the Bianconeri in January on a co-ownership deal.
It’s reported the transfer is also dependent on two other elements, as Genoa must have Borriello as a replacement for Gilardino and Juve sell the Grifone their 50 per cent of promising young striker Richmond Boakye.
Boakye is currently co-owned between Juventus and Genoa, but is spending this season on loan with Spanish side Elche.
