Pescara have confirmed that Juventus are close to reaching an agreement with them over the purchase of up-and-coming star Marco Verratti.

The former trequartista, who was converted to a deep-lying midfield position comparable to Andrea Pirlo, has attracted a lot of interest this summer.

Reports today suggest that Juve have taken the lead in negotiations, with an indication that a price of €5m had even been agreed between the parties.

However, any deal will see the youngster remain available to Pescara for 2012-13, their first season in Serie A in 20 years.

“The deal is not finalised,” club President Daniele Sebastiani confirmed to Sky Sport 24.

“We spoke today with [director general Beppe] Marotta and [sporting director Fabio] Paratici about the technical elements of the deal.

“Tomorrow we will meet again with Juventus. We will see what possibilities there are. He will remain with us for next season, and that is in any case.

“Negotiations are advanced, but not complete.”
