Felipe Melo has announced that he is returning to Galatasaray this summer, claiming that the club have reached an agreement with Juventus for his transfer.

The Brazilian midfielder spent last season on loan at the Turkish outfit and has been keen to remain, but negotiations between them and his owners Juve reportedly broke down late last month.

However, they look to have quickly recovered and according to the player himself, have succeeded in reaching an agreement for his permanent transfer.

“I am happy that we have finally reached a conclusive agreement,” the midfielder told reporters today.

“I hope that the deal between the clubs can be concluded as soon as possible because I really want to be available this Saturday for the derby with Fenerbahce.”

Meanwhile, his agency that negotiated on his behalf in the deal also released a brief statement on the deal.

“Felipe wants to communicate his happiness at having reached a definitive agreement with Galatasaray so as to continue his adventure with the club.”

Galatasaray originally had an option to purchase the player at the end of last season’s loan for a fee of €13m, but are pushing Juve in the closing stages of this deal for a much-reduced outlay. It is understood that a meeting between the Turks’ €5m offer and Juve’s adjusted €8m valuation will be enough to close the deal.

Meanwhile, the player has also reportedly agreed to a pay-cut to make the move, coming down from the €3.5m rate he received from the club in 2011-12 to a €2.5m salary instead.
