Torino coach Ivan Juric confirms he is seriously considering walking away from the club this summer unless there are reinforcements. ‘The club must decide if it wants to raise the bar.’
The Granata were beaten 1-0 at home by Napoli this afternoon, despite Etrit Berisha saving the Lorenzo Insigne penalty, as Fabian Ruiz pounced on a defensive error to get the winner.
Speaking to DAZN after the match, Juric focused mainly on the future and whether that will involve the Croatian tactician.
“The club has to decide,” said Juric. “This season was positive in many ways after two very sad years, we built a team that had some great performances and could’ve earned more points, but some of the problems remain.
“Now we will sit down and decide what to do next. If the club wants to raise the bar, we need strong players. It’s true we will lose a few as well this summer.
“My sensation is that Toro want to do more, you can no longer just float and be content with that. If it’s not possible, then we stay like this, but the President must decide if he wants to do something more to get a bit higher up the table.
“We are in 10th place now and that is excellent after the last two years.”
Tuttosport newspaper has been full of reports that Juric is pressuring President Urbano Cairo to invest in the squad and aim for European places next season.
He had already threatened to quit with just days remaining in the pre-season transfer window until Cairo made a series of swoops to reinforce the team.
Many of those are on loan, which is why Juric is aware they will not necessarily remain at the club.
