The Gialloblu prepare for Saturday’s match against 10th-placed Sampdoria and could increase the five-point gap that separates the two teams.

Verona have only won once in their last five games, but Juric was happy with the performance in the 1-0 defeat to Lazio last time.

“For me it was a fantastic match,” Juric said at a press conference. “Limiting Lazio in that way with a very high level of play satisfied me.

“The did little or nothing, it was the quality of attackers and defenders that made the difference.”

But the Verona coach expects a tough test from Claudio Ranieri’s men.

“They are doing very well and have a lot of choice,” he said. “It will be a very tough game because I watched them, and they made a very good impression on me.”

Juric said Verona’s improvement in recent years has been ‘out of the ordinary’ and believes they have done ‘a great job’ at the Bentegodi.

“The last two years have been out of the ordinary,” he continued. “In a logic of investments, of what you collect and so on.

“There’s always logic: just look at the amount of wages and that’s more or less it. We have done a great job.

“You can’t ask me if it’s possible to do anything else, it’s clear what needs to be done.”
