Genoa insist Ivan Juric “is absolutely staying” as Coach, even if they keep losing, but rule out signing Antonio Cassano or Giuseppe Rossi.

Two defeats and a draw have left Genoa 16th in Serie A, level on points with the relegation zone, but Enrico Preziosi assured he would not be parting with the Serbian, while vowing to keep his faith in the Rossoblu’s alternatives to the injured Gianluca Lapadula.

Two defeats and a draw have left Genoa 16th in Serie A, level on points with the relegation zone, but Enrico Preziosi assured he would not be parting with the Serbian, while vowing to keep his faith in the Rossoblu’s alternatives to the injured Gianluca Lapadula.

“Lazio and Chievo aren’t important matches for Juric’s future,” the President told Gianluca Di Marzio’s website.

“If I didn’t trust Juric, I could’ve ended our relationship at the end of last season. For me, he’s a great Coach.

“He only needs more experience: he’ll have made some mistakes, but he’ll also know how to fix them because he’s an intelligent lad.

“He’ll have time to gain that experience and it certainly won’t do Genoa damage because Genoa aren’t a club where one learns to become a Coach.

“Our squad can only be judged once everyone’s fit. Our squad can have a good season, without having any kind of fear.

“Even if we lost to Lazio and Chievo, [Juric] will absolutely stay in his position.

“Cassano or Rossi to replace Lapadula? I’ve never thought about replacing him with a free agent, first of all because a free agent wouldn’t have played for months… It wouldn’t make sense.

“I absolutely don’t want to make such moves. It wouldn’t be respectful to those who are already here because Galabinov can do his job anyway. Maybe he’ll play, maybe he won’t, but it doesn’t matter.

Napoli found the right balance with Mertens after they lost Milik to injury. Centurion, for example, has deadly pace, I really see him in [good] shape.

“I also see Taarabt well there. There are solutions that the Coach has probably thought about already. I just don’t think [Cassano or Rossi] are needed.

“Also, what do we do once Lapadula returns? We’ll leave Galabinov and Pellegri to fill the void, also because they have to find their own paths here.

“Sale to SRI Group? I never said I didn’t want to sell Genoa, our negotiations haven’t been interrupted.

“For as long as I’m in charge of this club, I also have the obligation, the duty to make things work.

“I was very angry about the result. What I’m going to tell players, however, is that one result won’t influence me.

“It’s not that I won’t sell Genoa if we lose seven games or win three. I’ll only sell because I think it’s right to do so.

“I’ll only sell if the people behind any takeover have the investment capabilities that I currently don’t have.”
