Genoa Coach Ivan Juric is “happy” to be back on the bench, and insists he has no desire for revenge.

The Croatian has twice been sacked by the Grifone, but yesterday he was brought back for a third spell after Davide Ballardini was fired.

“I’m happy to go back to doing the job I love at a team where I’ve done a lot,” Juric said at his presentation today.

“It obviously gets you down when you’re not working, we’ve got a very tough fixture list with the best teams all coming up in just a few games, but it’s a great challenge.

“There’s no desire for revenge, just the desire to work well. I want to be calm and do the best I can.

“I wasn’t doing well in that time [when I was sacked] and without rancour I can say I wasn’t doing the best in that period.

“In some games we were close to getting a result, but we didn’t get many points. I have to recognise that, despite my desire, I didn’t do a good job.

“When did I know I’d be back? Not long ago, I really didn’t expect it.

“I’m not worried by anything but the upcoming fixtures, but they can provide us a boost too. All I’ve thought about is analysing the squad, everything has happened so quickly.

“I won’t send any messages [to the fans], you need to get points, that’s the life of a Coach. If you get points then everything is fine, if you don't then proclamations won’t help.”

Juric was also asked what his tactical approach will be.

“The squad is built to play with two forwards and we will move forward in that direction.

“There doesn’t have to be one formation, there will be two strikers and then we also have a lot of mezzali.

“There are a lot of new players, particularly in attack where so many dynamic players have arrived. [Domenico] Criscito has returned and Darko Lazovic has done well on the left.”
