Olympique Lyonnais director Juninho Pernambucano relished “an almost perfect evening” after their 1-0 Champions League win over Juventus.

It’s just the first leg of the Round of 16, but an ideal result going into the second leg in Turin on March 17.

“It’s an almost perfect evening,” Juninho told RMC Sport after the Lucas Tousart strike.

“Of course, nobody expected us to beat Juve and we are very happy with the victory, above all the perfect first half. It was natural Juve would fight back after the break, because they are a very strong team.

“Nonetheless, they didn’t create many clear-cut changes, maybe a couple with Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala. It is only the first match, but this does show that we too have quality and talent to count on. We want to go further in the Champions League.

“The other issue this performance raises is why we can’t seem to maintain that level of concentration in Ligue 1? If we’d just won three more home matches at home, we’d have a very different position in the table by now.”
