The Brazilian is co-owned by the two clubs, but the arrangement must be resolved today, and the midfielder’s representative confirms a deal is practically done.

“Napoli are finding an agreement with Verona for his redemption worth €4.5m,” Joao Santos revealed in an interview with Radio CRC.

“I’ve heard from the sporting director of Napoli and of Verona, and from what I understand the Azzurri intend to redeem Jorginho.

“I think my client can do very well with [new Napoli Coach Maurizio] Sarri, because they’ll play in a different way.

“Football is like riding a bike, you never forget how to do it, and I’m convinced that Jorginho can show all his qualities next season.

“He can make a big contribution to this new Napoli, and I think [President Aurelio] De Laurentiis was right to change everything.”

It has been suggested that Jorginho could be signed and then used as a bargaining chip to secure Torino’s Matteo Darmian, but Santos assures that’s not in the pipeline.

“No, Napoli would have told me. In my opinion Jorginho will be at Napoli, and that’s what my client wants.

“Jorginho needs to play to do his best, and with [former Coach Rafa] Benitez he didn’t have a run in the team.

“We’ll see a new Jorginho under Sarri.”
