Jorginho says the opening day win at Genoa has helped Napoli overcome the disappointment of their early Champions League exit.
The Vesuviani were eliminated from the UEFA competition at the Play-off round by Athletic Bilbao, but opened their Serie A campaign with a last-gasp win at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris last weekend.
“After the game against Bilbao we couldn’t get ourselves down,” Jorginho reflected today on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“We had to turn a corner straight away like we did against Genoa, in one of the hardest stadiums to visit.
“We want to win every match – the goal [in the last minute against Genoa] came deservedly, the team never gave up and really tried until the end.
“And the Scudetto? We have to think about the present, the next game. Too many thoughts do not allow you to play as you know.
“This is the same squad that scored a record amount of goals, collected a record points total and won the Coppa Italia, we are there and will try to win.
“Certainly we are now reinforced with new arrivals. If someone has been signed, it is to improve us, to help us do better.”
It was put to the former Verona man that Napoli’s exit from the Champions League may present an advantage in the title race over Juventus and Roma.
“It is difficult to think of it as an advantage over Juventus and Roma because it was a dream of mine that I didn’t manage to achieve this year.
“It would have been amazing to play in the Champions League but unfortunately it wasn’t to be and now we will focus on other objectives.”
Despite this disappointment, Jorginho spoke of how well he has settled in since arriving at the San Paolo in January of this year.
“These months at Napoli have been wonderful, I’m very happy with everything that has happened and that is happening now. Scoring a goal against Roma in front of Diego Maradona was a dream come true.”
