After 20 months of restructuring work on the old Stadio Friuli, the 25,000 seater stadium was fully opened today and has been given the new name Dacia Arena.

The design is based on the Allianz Arena used by Bayern Munich.

“We wanted this to be a stadium for the whole week and not just two or three hours,” noted Udinese patron Gianpaolo Pozzo.

“I like to call it a fairground for adults. It contains a gym, restaurants, bars and all those activities that keep a structure alive all the time.

“We know that in our country we’re very far behind when it comes to renovating the stadiums, but we hope to set the example for everyone.”
