Germany, who were eliminated by Italy in the semi-finals of the competition have held on to second, whilst England, who fell in the quarter-finals to the Azzurri, have moved up one place to third in the world.

Uruguay and Portugal complete the top five, with Italy still in sixth, a position they have held for two months now. Brazil are ranked in 13th place, one position below Greece.

FIFA’s ranking system takes into account all international fixtures played over a period of the last four years.
