The veteran custodian initially didn't figure in the plans of Cesare Prandelli, but he's in contention again and even made a substitute appearance against Northern Ireland last night.

The veteran custodian initially didn't figure in the plans of Cesare Prandelli, but he's in contention again and even made a substitute appearance against Northern Ireland last night.
"The Coach surprisingly decided to throw me on, even if I was perhaps helped by suggestions beforehand that I could feature," stated the former Pescara man.
"To go on to the field of play for your country, at my age, was great and I'm happy to be back in this squad.
"There are a lot of new faces in the set-up now, a new footballing philosophy too and we hope to continue to do well."
The 34-year-old won his fourth cap on Tuesday, but it was his first since a tie against Greece back in November 2008.
"Gigi Buffon is well and he will guarantee great performances for many years to come, but there was a need to build a future behind him," he added.
"That's why you could understand why it was decided to focus on Salvatore Sirigu of Paris SG and Inter's Emiliano Viviano [who is currently injured].
"However, I've always made myself available for selection and to be brought back into the Giro Azzurro is something that I'm very proud of."
