The Azzurri have reportedly been working to find a solution to the risks Cesare Prandelli’s face this summer in the South American climate.

It is seen that high humidity in particular could see players lose approximately five pounds in body weight over a typical 90-minute match, which could compromise concentration as well as nerve and muscle function.

The Gazzetta dello Sport report that Italy have been awarded, ahead of Germany, the use of some specially designed gloves, geared towards lowering the body temperature as soon as possible after a game.

It is believed that a refrigerated suit was also being trialled, but greater limitations on the duration it could be worn led to the development of the cooling gloves.
