Leonardo Bonucci, Marco Verratti and Alessandro Florenzi are expected to start for Italy against Israel in their opening 2018 World Cup qualifier.

It kicks off in Haifa on Monday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

Daniele De Rossi has been ruled out by a calf injury and it’s believed Riccardo Montolivo will fill in for him in the deep-lying playmaker role.

That is because Coach Giampiero Ventura sees PSG midfielder Verratti in a less central role.

Florenzi was a substitute in Thursday’s 3-1 friendly defeat to France, but is bound to start in Israel, though he could take a number of positions, including the left wing in place of Mattia De Sciglio.

Bonucci returns to the three-man defence after he missed the France match due to personal reasons.

Italy (probable): Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Florenzi, Verratti, Montolivo, Parolo, Candreva; Eder, Pellè
