It is now official, Italy will be in Pot 4 for the draw of the EURO 2024 group phase when it takes place on December 2.
The Azzurri knew that only a point against Ukraine would be enough to qualify, but put them in a very dangerous position when it came to the tournament itself.
They needed Croatia to slip up against Armenia this evening, but that ended 1-0 with a goal from Ante Budimir.
Vincenzo Montella’s Turkey also held Wales to a 1-1 draw, so his side is top of the group, while the Welsh go into the play-offs.
The group qualifying is now over, though 12 teams will go into the play-offs in March and only three of those will make it through to the competition in Germany next summer.
Those three will be in Pot 4 for the draw, along with Switzerland, Serbia and Italy.

Pot 2
Denmark, Hungary, Austria, Albania, Turkey, Romania
Pot 3
Netherlands, Scotland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czechia, Croatia
Pot 4

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Greece, Iceland, Israel, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, Poland, Ukraine, Wales
So lets hope for Belgium, Romania, Slovenia
It’s almost a moot point since there’s Pot 3 & 4 countries in Pot 2: Hungary, Austria, Albania, Turkey, Romania
The toughest group Italy could draw would be France, Denmark, Holland
The not so tough group could be Belgium, Austria, Scotland
Whatever the case may be, they will be ready.

So it’s Spain, Denmark, Holland then, it’s so obvious really.
It doesn’t matter what pot we are in and who we play, if you want to win the tournament then you beat the best
Who cares. Italy could draw Belgium, Albania and Scotland. I had rather Italy play the tough teams, in the last euro their hardest game always against Austria.

For a start Italy should have had England in their qualifies group, that was deemed for a revenge fixture and Italy lost which cost them to be bottom seeded. In the old days Champions automatically qualified anyway. Two finalists should not be in a the qualifying group. Italy ranked in top 10 so why seeded so low anyway.
I don’t think it matters… I’ve seen italy play their best against the strongest teams and not so good against minnows or modest teams.. Didn’t we struggle against Cost Rica and lose to them in 2014? Ireland in other years…
Italy need a true goalscorer aside from Chiesa. Our strikers are all horrible. We cannot pretend to play with a false 9…..Spain is about the only team that could play that to perfection. We are in trouble….
Anyone in Pot 2 and 3 should be manageable. OK, always best to avoid Croatia or the Netherlands but otherwise SHOULD be manageable.
As everyone else will be thinking, and the old saying goes; ‘everyone will want to avoid Italy from pot 4 in their group’
Whether or not we got into pot 2 or 3 we would of still had to play teams in pot 1, so what 🤷🏽♂️
Honestly, I’m not bothered about all this Pot talk, Italy have qualified & Italy are the reigning current European Champions. Spalletti has time now to work with his new squad, Italy will be prepared come Euro2024. Forza Azzurri!
Mario B has a point, Mario should be called up for the next Italy friendly games to see if he’s still got it, give him a chance he is a striker after all.

Belgium – ZERO honours at international level and beaten by Italy in the last two euro’s in Pot 1.
England, France, Holland, Spain, Germany are now very worried Italy will fall on their group.
Germany is no where near the team they used to be. The best team is France and then England. After that there is no real threat.
