Italy boss Cesare Prandelli insists that the doors to his squad are still open for Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti.

The latter hit the headlines on Saturday night after his heroics frustrated Italian champions Juventus during the 0-0 draw in Turin.

“He is a goalkeeper who we are keeping an eye on,” Prandelli noted on Monday afternoon. “I can assure you that he has not been excluded from the squad.

“However, at this moment in time, we have four important goalkeepers in Gigi Buffon, Salvatore Sirigu, Morgan De Sanctis and Emiliano Viviano.

“I can’t say what will happen in the future though so we will continue to consider everyone and then make our choices.

“Obviously that includes Marchetti as well.”

Marchetti has won eight caps at international level. His last was in the 3-2 defeat to Slovakia during the 2010 World Cup.
