Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano wants to avoid ‘crazy’ distractions against Braga on Thursday and defends Sofyan Amrabat.

The Tuscans host the Portuguese side at the Stadio Franchi in the second leg of Conference League play-offs on Thursday after a 4-0 win last week.

“It’s a different game and we’ll try to make the most of our advantage,” Italiano said at a press conference.

“We must have the right approach and show the same focus as in the first leg. No distractions, we can’t waste what we did last week it would be crazy. We always want to prove our worth by trying to cause trouble for our opponents. We must pay attention and try to be more mature generally.

“We are different in this competition, every Serie A team is well prepared and doesn’t concede us much. We have three months ahead and we can improve in many situations.”

Could Salvatore Sirigu make his Fiorentina debut against Braga?

“He returned home on compassionate leave yesterday,” revealed Italiano.

“I’ve spoken to the lad and if he returns and is mentally free, I’d like to see him in action. I can see he’s more involved and is fit.

“Nikola Milenkovic is out but we are optimistic for Monday. Amrabat must remain calm, nobody can solve problems alone,” continued Italiano when asked about the Morocco international.

“He played a great game in Braga but against Empoli, he made an error receiving the ball in the wrong place because he doesn’t like to isolate himself on the pitch.

“He has a great personality and he always tries to make up for errors running everywhere. It’s all right, he knows he should not take any risk in certain situations, including tomorrow. This match is too important for us so we must all be part of the strategy.”

Arthur Cabral has scored three goals in the last two appearances across all competitions, including a brace in the reverse fixture last week.

“I like that he always wants to help the team, which makes a difference t me. He is improving physically and mentally and could be ready to start.”
