Vincenzo Italiano believes Spezia could do more against Inter, but claims his players ‘left the field with their heads held high.’

“I am satisfied, we left the pitch with our heads held high against a top club like Inter,” Italiano told Sky Sport Italia after his side’s 2-1 defeat against the Nerazzurri at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

“We could have done more, but I am satisfied with the performance that will surely help us during the season.

“We could have produced more crosses with Bastoni and Vignali and try to have more shots in their target. It’s a pity, with a little more experience you can definitely get more in these games. Let’s continue this way, we still have a long way ahead."

Spezia will face Genoa in a Liguria derby next week before the Christmas break.

“We’ll try not to concede many goal chances, we need important points and the game against Genoa will be crucial. We’ll face it with the right attitude because it will count so much for us.”
