Vincenzo Italiano and Rolando Maran are the two favourites to lead Genoa next season, as Davide Nicola won’t be kept on.

The club is in a constant state of flux and this summer is no different, as after going through three coaches in one season and escaping relegation on the final day, they are still not prepared to extend the deal with Nicola.

Genoa also changed their director of sport, with Daniele Faggiano arriving from Parma.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Italiano is the hot favourite to take the Marassi bench next term.

The 42-year-old is currently in charge of Spezia, who are in the Serie B promotion play-offs.

He also played for Genoa, albeit only for a few months, in 2005.

The alternative is believed to be Maran, who was sacked by Cagliari in late February.
