Mario Balotelli excited Palermo fans when he admitted ‘it would be nice’ to play for the Serie B outfit in the future.

The 32-year-old Italian striker was born in the Sicilian capital but moved to Brescia at an early age, where he developed as a player.

Balotelli is currently playing in Switzerland for FC Sion, where he’s scored five goals in 15 league appearances. Incredibly, he’s managed to pick up more yellow cards than goals, receiving eight across these 15 games.

An ever-divisive player, the Italian has already sparked controversy on a number of occasions this season, such as when he was spotted stumbling out of a nightclub in the early hours of the morning.

On his Instagram, Balotelli held an informal Q&A with his followers, and one asked if he’d be willing to play for Serie B side Palermo. His response excited supporters, saying: “It would be great one day, for sure.”

Palermo are backed by Manchester City owners City Group, giving them stability after a difficult few years. The team currently sit 9th in the Serie B table with 42 points and will be hoping to fight for a spot in Serie A in the play-off round.
