Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi admits he dreamed of returning to Roma last summer: ‘It made me sad…’

The Italy international is a product of the Giallorossi academy and Roma were in talks with Neroverdi over his potential return this summer.

“I dreamed of returning to Roma, but it didn’t happen,” he told DAZN after Sassuolo’s loss to Inter today.

“It made me sad, but I’ve continued to work hard. I will give my all until I stay here.”

Frattesi scored the equaliser, but Inter eventually won the game thanks to an Edin Dzeko brace. Frattesi was then replaced due to a physical issue.

“I had a muscle problem, something I’ve been struggling with lately.”

Domenico Berardi is out of action for Sassuolo and Frattesi hopes the Neroverdi captain will return to action soon.

“He is so strong, I am sure that he would have scored or assisted today, but whoever replaced him did well.”
