“We had a great first half,” Inzaghi responded when asked for an assessment of the match at Stadio Olimpico.

“We could have finished it off by being further ahead, but we were playing Genoa who are a good team.

“We conceded, but we did well to get back on track. We did well and now we need to move forward like this.

“We are young and we have room for improvement. I can’t wait to have a fully fit squad and to have more selection dilemmas!”

Inzaghi was then asked whether his young team’s form is surpassing his expectations.

“I hoped for it, I had left a strong team behind last year and I knew everyone well. We have played very high level matches, we will have tough games and we need to approach them as well as we can.

“The important thing is to have people who make themselves ready and available, then it is up to me to choose the best players.”
