Simone Inzaghi shrugs off Lazio Scudetto talk, but they accept “people expect more from us” following nine straight wins and two trophies.

The Aquile have scored more goals in the final 15 minutes than any other Serie A side this season, 12, and completed another late comeback to beat 10-man Brescia.

“The team believed to the end,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

“We knew it would be difficult today, Brescia had prepared well and even gave up vacation time over the break to work in a training retreat in Rome.

“It’s true we could’ve done better in the second half, moved the ball quicker and made more of the fact we were against 10 men, but Brescia fought hard.

“We should analyse the goal that we conceded, because it was avoidable, and work to improve our defects. We struggled more than usual, but still kept believing.”

Lazio had Luis Alberto and Lucas Leiva suspended, with Danilo Cataldi and Denis Vavro not fully fit, so improvised with Joaquin Correa in midfield.

“Correa is an intelligent player and had a great game, so I had this idea after seeing Cataldi was struggling in training.”

This was Lazio’s ninth consecutive Serie A victory, equalling the record set by Inzaghi’s old boss Sven Goran Eriksson in 1998-99.

“We have a very good rapport and it is enormously pleasing to reach this record. We had discussed it with the players in the dressing room beforehand.”

Considering their amazing form, can the Biancocelesti target the Scudetto?

“Our first objective is to just improve every day. People do expect more from us with all these wins and the two trophies in five months, and we realise that too, so we are ready to take on that extra responsibility.

“We’ll try to continue this form and absolutely want to qualify for the Champions League.”
