Lazio have travelled to Belgium with only 16 players to face Club Brugge in Champions League tomorrow and Simone Inzaghi reveals the club will release an official statement tomorrow.

The likes of Luis Alberto, Immobile, Andreas Pereira, Lucas Leiva, Manuel Lazzari, Danilo Cataldi, Luiz Felipe and Thomas Strakosha were missing from Lazio’s training today and rumours in Italian media suggest it could be due to a COVID outbreak, even if there are no official announcements from the Aquile.

"As for the list of players, some of them who have remained in Rome. Here we arrived in 16, and tomorrow the club will make a statement,” Inzaghi said at a press conference.

"We are evaluating, some players are finishing the last swabs," he added.

“There are still five games to go. It’s an emergency moment, which we didn’t want to have, but I’m confident about those who will go onto pitch.

"We didn’t expect it, we had started very well. We wanted to come here to Bruges but every team has these problems nowadays. I’m sure those who will play will give 120% for the jersey of Lazio.

"There will be a very competitive Lazio, that will want to make a good match in Bruges. It is a good team with good players, they are the leaders of the group with us.

“Club Brugge is a great team with important players. I think the midfield is their best department, with quality players and physical strength.

“It’s a team that runs a lot. Along with Lazio, Zenit and Dortmund they will play until the end to qualify.”
