Simone Inzaghi says the ‘injustices’ allegedly suffered by Lazio in their last four Serie A games will fire them up against Cittadella in the Coppa Italia.

Ciro Immobile was sent off for a perceived headbutt on Nicolas Burdisso during Lazio’s 3-1 defeat to Torino, but Inzaghi confirmed the striker would line up against the Serie B high-fliers, the Coach warning his players of the ‘trap’ that was awaiting them.

“We must transform the disappointment of the injustice that we suffered into ferocity,” he said at a Press conference for Thursday’s tie.

“The game against Cittadella is a trap. They’re a well-organised team, who mustn’t be underestimated.

“They’re doing well in Serie B and they also beat Palermo, so we must play with intensity. I have to put out our best team.

“We still have to assess how the players recovered after Monday’s game. Luis Alberto and Felipe Anderson took some knocks, which must be evaluated.

“Immobile will play as he’s banned in the League. "I talked a lot to the team yesterday and told them that we had to look forward.

“I reiterated to them that what happened was out of this world, but I’m proud of how the players reacted.

“Only Immobile will pay the consequences, but it must be emphasised that we kept a clear head in the first three games that we were penalised in.

“On Monday, we didn’t succeed, but it wasn’t easy. I hope the right measures are taken against those who mess up, but now we have to think about playing.

“There was a lack of quality against Torino, especially in the final third, but if those strange things hadn’t happened, we’d have beaten both Torino and Fiorentina.

“I expected a better performance against the Granata, but they’re a good team. We’re doing well, despite everything and everyone.

“It’s thanks to the work we’ve done in the last few months and the support of the fans, who have always been close to us.

“We’re on the right track to do well. We’re a tight-knit unit and we can fight against everything and everyone.

“Immobile had a good game on Monday. He hit the post and was close to scoring. He had to be more careful with Burdisso, but I’ll say that at most, he deserved a warning, like Burdisso.

“However, I remain confident because I know that Ciro is fine. From today, I won’t talk about these wrongs anymore and I’ll only think about putting the best team out like I have been, despite our wrongs.

“However, those in charge will make themselves heard.”
