Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi admits “I’d like to replay” last year’s Salzburg tie, as his side prepare to return to the Europa League.

The Biancocelesti had a 4-2 lead from the first leg against the Austrian side, and when they went up 1-0 in the away leg it looked as though they’d cruise through.

They conceded an equaliser, however, before shipping three goals in four minutes to crash out.

“I’d like to replay that last tie with Salzburg,” Inzaghi admitted in his Press conference ahead of the Apollon game.

“Last year we had a great run in Europe, where every game is difficult. In the quarter-finals we had a good lead but then the return leg went badly. It was still a good ride though.

“Tomorrow is our first game and we have to do it well, it’ll be a difficult group and we need to make sure we start well.

“We want to do well because Europe is important for us, I have important players and there will be some changes for tomorrow.

“We got three good points on Sunday against Empoli, but everything changes in Europe.

“I have some ideas, on Saturday I only thought about Empoli, tomorrow only about the Europa League even if we know we have a long period with a lot of games.

“Together with my staff I’ll need to understand who can play three games in a row and who needs to be rotated. I’ll see the training sessions, I'll talk to the players and I'll decide.

“There are still some situations to evaluate, all the lads except [Stefan] Radu have recovered. I still have to decide, but Riza Durmisi could play.

“We have [Etrit] Berisha who yesterday and today started the session with us. I think it’ll take some more time for him, he’s much better and he can train but since he’s been out for so long he needs more time.

“Luiz Felipe has started to run on the pitch so we’ll see how he reacts, but I don’t think they’ll make it for Genoa.

“Hopefully it’s nothing serious for Radu, but we need to wait for the scans.

“Tomorrow [Martin] Caceres will play from the start, I strongly believe in him.”

Inzaghi also gave his assessment of tomorrow’s opponents.

“Appolon are an experienced team, they have an average age of about 30 and they knocked out Basel, who have been in the Champions League for the past two years.

“They have experience in Europe and shouldn’t be underestimated.”
