Salernitana coach Filippo Inzaghi was quick to heap praise on goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa after a breathtaking performance to keep his side in the game during their 2-2 draw away at Sassuolo on Friday evening.

Ochoa, 38, put in a number of crucial saves to keep the hosts at bay, particularly in the second half. His interventions only became more impressive as the game ticked on.

Salernitana had led 2-0 after 17 minutes, but were pegged back by a brace from Kristian Thorstvedt by the 52nd. Ochoa had been practically helpless on both occasions.

Still, the Mexico international managed to pull off a number of vital interventions, many from point-blank range, and some from dangerous-looking one-on-ones.

He had also denied Domenico Berardi in impressive fashion , before keeping Armand Lauriente out in even more impressive fashion from the follow-up in the second half.

“Guillermo is a certainty,” Inzaghi said during his post-match interview. “He has saved us on multiple occasions.

He continued: “Sassuolo found themselves one-on-one with our goalkeeper several times, but Ochoa held really firm.”

Inzaghi is still yet to win with Salernitana in Serie A since he took over on October 10, but has recently recorded his first victory in the Coppa Italia against Sampdoria

The Granata, however, are still in 20th place in the Serie A table, and are the only team in the division yet to win this season.
