Uruguayan international forward Forlan is one of a number of players the Nerazzurri are reportedly keen to offload this summer and he has more than once been linked with a return to South American football.

The latest reports have paired him with Internacional, but as their President revealed on Tuesday, no talks have actually taken place with the Brazilians.

“At the moment there are no negotiations underway. Forlan is an Inter player, it is obvious that he is one of great value, but…” Giovanni Luigi told fcinter1908.it.

“Are we not interested in Forlan? That’s not what I am saying, we are interested in all good players, but with Inter we have not spoken.”

Luigi was pushed further on the rumours of their interest and did admit that there was one way that they would be prepared to take the player.

“Look, Forlan is under contract and we currently have no intention of making an offer for the player, I say that sincerely.

“To date, the player is not free…if he were to leave Inter then everything would be possible, but at present he has a contract for two more years with Inter.”
