Inter chief Massimo Moratti insists the club will not bring in a free agent following the “frightening” injury to Diego Milito.

There have been suggestions that the Beneamata could follow in the footsteps of Lazio” data-scaytid=”5″>Lazio who signed the available Louis Saha last week as cover for the sidelined Miroslav Klose.

But Moratti, speaking the day after the club’s centre-forward was ruled out for the rest of the season, insisted no new faces would arrive.

“We don't like to think about these things 12 hours on from an injury like that, but I can categorically rule out the chances of bringing anyone else in,” he stated.

“Milito's injury is not only a blow from a footballing perspective but also very sad for him because he'd rediscovered his enthusiasm for the game, and he's a consummate professional.

“Yesterday was frightening, but he's got the character to come back, train and play. It's still horrible for us to think about.

“I've not spoken to him yet. We gave him some space because of the pain he's in and so he can get his head around it. I'll speak to him soon.”

The 33-year-old, who damaged knee ligaments in the 2-0 win over Cluj, is the club’s top scorer in the League thanks to his nine goals in 20 Serie A matches this term.

“I don't think the team will crumble now and I actually think this will give us more strength to play well because the injuries are starting to mount up,” Moratti added.

“We need to keep going and keep winning. We need to stay in the Europa League and secure third place in Serie A.”
