Steven Zhang is incredibly impressed with Simone Inzaghi’s start at Inter and he’s planning on rewarding the Italian coach.

The Nerazzurri currently sit top of the Serie A table heading into the new year, one point ahead of intercity rivals Milan, although they have a game in hand. They’ve only lost one league match all season, and they’ve qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Zhang wants to offer Inzaghi a contract extension in order to reward him for his hard work so far. The Nerazzurri president will personally meet with the Italian coach to congratulate him and to start renewal negotiations.

Inzaghi’s current deal expires in June 2023 but the Milanese club are planning on pushing it back to 2025, as well as raising his salary slightly; he currently earns just over €4m net per season.

The Inter coach will meet with Zhang in the coming days but renewal discussions are not expected to start in full force until the spring, as there are currently more pressing matters on the contract front, starting with Marcelo Brozovic.
