Hellas Verona's Giovanni Gardini is set to become Inter's new director general, with an official announcement expected shortly.

The former Mastini director general will be taking up the same role with the Nerazzurri after an interview with President Erick Thohir is believed to have gone well.

The director met the Indonesian tycoon yesterday for lunch alongside CEO Michael Bolingbroke, and in the evening Sky Sports reported that the meeting had a positive outcome.

An official announcement is expected shortly. As the new director general, Gardini will be expected to take care of three aspects of the club's management.

He will handle the istitutional relationships in Italy and abroad, the financial aspects of the transfer market, and matters related to sports, including the relationship with the Coach Roberto Mancini.
