Although it has been known for weeks that Leo had quit to become director of sport at Paris Saint-Germain, the Brazilian was still formally the Coach.

This afternoon the club released a statement confirming “after intense months with the Coppa Italia Final success, Inter and Leonardo amicably ended the contract.

“Aside from the bureaucratic aspects of these issues, everyone's respect remains strong towards someone able to continually put himself up for new challenges.

“President Massimo Moratti and all of the club, thanking him for the time together, wish Leonardo the best of luck for his career.”

It also means Gasperini is officially the Nerazzurri Coach and will be presented to the media next Tuesday.

“I can't wait to get started,” said the former Genoa boss, who has signed a two-year deal.
