Inter have retorted that Luciano Spalletti refused to accept their offer to cut ties with the club, following his dismissal last May.

Spalletti told Tuttomercatoweb.com that Milan had contacted the coach about accepting a position on the Rossoneri bench after Marco Giampaolo was shown the door by the club in October.

However the former Roma and Udinese coach stated that he couldn’t have accepted their offer due to still being on Inter’s payroll.

The Nerazzurri have now shot back at Spalletti, suggesting that the 60-year-old refused their offer to sever ties with the club.

“In addition to the compensation accrued by Mr. Spalletti, the club had proposed a further economic offer as an incentive to leave, which was not accepted,” a club representative told the ANSA news agency.
