It is confirmed that Inter are negotiating a better deal to sign Raoul Bellanova from Cagliari, but it’s reported Lazio held firm for the €4m Francesco Acerbi clause.

The Nerazzurri reached the Champions League Final, which significantly improved their otherwise dire financial situation.

However, they are still trying to run the club as sustainably as possible, with a huge loan set to be repaid to Oaktree Capital next year.

According to Tuttosport, Inter attempts to get a discount from Lazio for Acerbi have failed and they will today activate the €4m option to make his loan move permanent.

Although he turned 35 in February, Acerbi has been a rock in their defence this season, making 49 competitive appearances.

On the other hand, Cagliari confirm that the Nerazzurri will not take up their option to buy wing-back Bellanova for the agreed €7m.

“Inter had the option to buy, but told us it was impossible to activate that,” Cagliari director Nereo Bonato told Radio Sportiva.

“We will meet again over the next few days. There is a solid rapport between the clubs, so there will not be a problem.”

According to FCInterNews.it, the plan is to extend the loan for one more season or accept a far lower offer at €4m.

Inter already paid €3m to have Bellanova on loan this season and he made 22 competitive appearances.
