“Claudio Ranieri is not at risk” ahead of tonight’s game with Catania, insisted Inter general manager Ernesto Paolillo.

The Coach is hanging by a thread after losing seven of the last eight official matches in all competition.

“I speak regularly with Ranieri. He is very confident and I am as optimistic as he is,” Paolillo told Sky Sport Italia.

“He is not at risk and we put our unconditional faith in him. We hope that the results can help us out. These defeats are like lightning strikes that can do damage, but we hope that won’t be the case.”

There are strong reports that Ranieri will drop Wesley Sneijder for tonight’s match with Catania.

“We would always like to see the players of great talent on the pitch. Inter have many talented stars, but at times that means making choices, so Ranieri should be left to make his decisions without pressure.”

However, there was a surprise when Dejan Stankovic was not even included in the squad.

Ranieri explained it by stating “he didn’t look in good shape,” but there does not appear to be an injury.

“It’s not true that I wanted to punish him for his anger after a substitution against Napoli, nor is it true I always replace the same players.”
