Inter are reportedly pushing through plans to bring back Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter are in the market for midfield reinforcements, prompting boss Luciano Spalletti to ask his board about a return for Kovacic.

The 24-year-old was a fans’ favourite for the Nerazzurri between 2013 and 2015, before leaving to join Madrid against the wishes of then-Coach Roberto Mancini.

Despite struggling to establish himself under Zinedine Zidane, however, the Croat still has three years left on his Blancos contract and would command a fee ‘in excess of €30m’.

Nonetheless, the newspaper claims the two clubs have scheduled a meeting to discuss a possible transfer.
