Arsenal have reportedly stepped up with an offer for Ivan Perisic, who was a target for Manchester United, as Luciano Spalletti opened the Inter door.

It was rumoured in La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning that the Nerazzurri would be prepared to sell Perisic for €35-40m in the January transfer window.

That is a significant drop from the €50m price-tag quoted to Manchester United over the summer.

Now BBC Sport claim that Arsenal have approached Inter for the Croatia international, but their proposal is to take him on loan with option to buy for £35m (approximately €40m).

However, it is very unlikely Inter would accept these terms, preferring an outright sale.

Coach Luciano Spalletti spoke to Sky Sport Italia this afternoon and he was asked specifically about Perisic rumours.

“It’s pretty normal for people to talk about a player with the quality of Perisic, because he is complete in all areas, physically strong, has quality, stamina, pace, can provide assists…

“He can do more in terms of goals and assists, so there are some qualities he hasn’t developed enough, but he has improved in other areas.

“It’s natural Perisic is talked about, because everyone values him the same way we do. If someone is interested, the conditions have to be right to pay his value, because he is such a strong player.”
