Inter’s hopes of signing Brazilian midfielder Paulinho are again in doubt, as Corinthians’ sporting director reflects that the player may turn them down.

Reports at the weekend placed the 23-year-old alongside a €8m move to the Nerazzurri this summer, but, following on from his own admittance that he may turn that transfer down, Corinthians have explained that he has a strong attachment to them.

“People talk so much with Paulinho and see how happy he is with Corinthians. He identifies with this club,” Edu Gaspar told FCInterNews.it.

“But clearly, we have to think about working to secure his rights [currently his ownership is split across three parties], because they could be all ours.

“I can say that for him, today it is not easy to leave Corinthians. We offer important structure, we strive to win more titles and we give visibility to the national team just like any European club now.

“Paulinho will have to think about it before deciding whether or not to go there. Even so, we will do everything to keep him here because he identifies with Corinthians.”
