Inter have made history in a negative sense, for the first time ever suffering three consecutive Serie A home defeats without finding the net and the problem is evident – converting chances into goals.
The Nerazzurri were beaten 1-0 by Monza this evening, conceding a Luca Caldirola free header on a corner.
This followed on from identical results against Juventus and Fiorentina at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
It is hardly difficult to spot the problem here, because over the last five Serie A games, Inter have had over 100 attempts on goal and scored only twice.
Of those two goals, one was from open play for Robin Gosens against Salernitana, the other a Romelu Lukaku penalty.
The problem stretches to the Coppa Italia and Champions League too, as in the last eight competitive matches, they scored only five goals and two were from open play, Gosens and the Nicolò Barella header against Benfica in the quarter-final midweek.
Edin Dzeko has not found the net at all in his last 15 competitive games.
Lautaro Martinez scored twice in his last 10 matches, none of them were decisive, in wins over Udinese and Lecce.
Romelu Lukaku has not scored from open play in Serie A since the opening round against Lecce, while Joaquin Correa hasn’t found the net since October.
