Inter won’t even sit down to discuss Lautaro Martinez for less than €90m cash, but are prepared to listen if Barcelona add Emerson Royal into the deal.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, negotiations with the Blaugrana are grinding to a halt because the €111m release clause requires the funds to be transferred in one payment.

Barca are therefore trying to offer €50m cash plus players to ease the blow, but Inter won’t even sit down at the table unless that figure is raised to €90m.

There is also disagreement over the players to be included in the package, as they find Junior Firpo to be ‘unconvincing’ and Arturo Vidal is heading into the last year of his contract.

The latest report from La Gazzetta suggests a new target has been identified by Inter, so Emerson Royal could be included in any exchange for Lautaro Martinez.

The 21-year-old Brazilian right-back, whose full name is Emerson Aparecido Leite De Souza Junior, is currently on a two-season loan at Real Betis Balompie, at a cost of €6m.

He was purchased from Atletico Mineiro for €12m in the summer of 2019, despite already being on loan at Betis from January.

So far this season, Emerson has contributed three goals and five assists in 23 La Liga appearances.

His price-tag has now climbed to €15-20m, so along with €90m cash would cover the cost of Lautaro Martinez.
