Ivan Perisic took part in today’s training session with Inter, fuelling hopes he can recover in time to start against Liverpool in the Champions League.

The second leg of that Round of 16 tie is on Tuesday at Anfield, kicking off at 20.00 GMT.

Perisic had been ruled out of last night’s 5-0 Serie A victory over Salernitana with a slight muscular issue, replaced by Matteo Darmian.

The Croatia international did take part in today’s training session, according to Sky Sport Italia, although did not complete all the exercises with his teammates.

It remains to be seen if he will be considered fit to start at Anfield on Tuesday evening, otherwise Darmian is the most likely alternative.

Nicolò Barella will not play, as he continues his two-match Champions League ban, so Arturo Vidal is expected to start.

Liverpool won the first leg 2-0 at San Siro, putting them in pole position to qualify for the quarter-final.
