Chelsea have made it clear that they won’t accept another loan deal for Romelu Lukaku but Inter have a plan in mind to bring back the Belgian, La Gazzetta dello Sport detail.
The 30-year-old striker returned to the Nerazzurri last summer on a €20m total loan deal, coming back just a year after his €113m move to West London.
Whilst his return started slowly, the Belgian found his footing in the latter stages of the season, scoring seven goals in his last seven Serie A appearances.
Lukaku’s loan deal did not contain a permanence clause, so he’s now returned to Chelsea. Inter have been in close contact, keen to set up a new agreement, but talks have started to stall in recent weeks.
Pages two and three of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport detail how Chelsea have told Inter that they won’t accept a new loan deal for Lukaku, forcing the club to return to the drawing board. A plan has now been developed.
The Nerazzurri are planning to offer a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause attached, set at €30m. This is a little lower than the €40m hoped for by the Blues, but a compromise could be reached.
Inter also want Lukaku to lower his wages a little, not willing to pay the €8.5m net he earnt last season.
