However, the Nerazzurri have no budget to work with in January due to Financial Fair Play issues, so are only prepared to take the 28-year-old striker on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
His contract runs out in June 2019 and Liverpool are therefore eager to get some guarantees of a permanent transfer come the summer.
Multiple Italian sources note that Sturridge is not a priority for Inter, who have already picked up Lisandro Lopez from Benfica and are in advanced negotiations for Barcelona midfielder Rafinha.
It’s not clear how much playing time Sturridge would get at San Siro either, as they are out of the Coppa Italia and did not qualify for European competition.
He’d be fighting for a place with Mauro Icardi, Ivan Perisic and Antonio Candreva.
