The former Lazio Coach has replaced him on the bench, and insists they can make up the eight point deficit which currently separates them from the top-three.
“I’d be content if we got to the Champions Leauge,” Pioli noted in his presentation Press conference.

“I’d be content if we got to the Champions Leauge,” Pioli noted in his presentation Press conference.
“There are a lot of games to be played, there’s a long way to go. At this point last year Inter were top of the table and Juve, I think, were ninth and we all know how that turned out.
“I don’t want anyone to be under any illusions, it won’t be easy but we have a chance to reach the objective that the club wants.”
Pioli will make his debut in the Derby della Madonnina against Milan, would he have preferred an easier start?
“We expect a great match, Inter have shown that we have the motivation to deal with matches against the big teams.
“Milan are doing well, but we have the right motivation for our meeting.”
Inter have had a problem scoring this season, with only Mauro Icardi finding the back of the net regularly.
“First of all, I’m happy to Coach a player like him,” Pioli said.
“He’s a very talented striker who is scoring consistently and I hope he’ll keep doing so, as well as showing great determination and a willingness to sacrifice.
“We’ll work to get the others scoring too, I think we can score a lot of goals. We’ll find the spaces, I want to spend a lot of time in the opposition box.
“Gabriel Barbosa? Every player who can help us win will be given an opportunity.
“Gabriel is training well, then it’s up to me to figure out who will be reliable and who I can play every Sunday.”
