Inter are smarting after reports Paulinho’s buy-out clause is €20m rather than €15m, as the bidding war for the Corinthians talent intensifies.

The Nerazzurri had been in pole position for the midfielder, having already agreed terms with club and player last summer for €8m until he opted to stay in Brazil.

It’s believed the transfer was only delayed rather than called off entirely, but Inter could be forced to pull out if reports emanating from Brazil are true.

There are claims that Paulinho’s buy-out clause has been set at €20m rather than €15m, which would make it increasingly difficult for the new-look San Siro side to handle.

The likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG and Arsenal are also in the running for the 24-year-old.

“Inter made me an official offer, you know that. I confirmed the proposal and then I decided to stay in Brazil. But now with Chelsea, there is nothing,” Paulinho told Foot365.

“I'm happy with Corinthians, even at this time. Also, I have challenges ahead such as the Club World Cup. For this reason, I remain focused on the pitch.”
