Duvan Zapata’s agents are trying to force through a move to Inter, but the club reportedly baulked at Atalanta’s €30m plus bonuses asking price.

The Colombia international is eager to try this step up to the Scudetto winners, where he would effectively replace Chelsea-bound Romelu Lukaku.

According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, the player’s agents were in Italy today for face-to-face negotiations with Inter and Atalanta representatives.

However, while noting that the 30-year-old wants to make the move, Inter are not prepared to meet the Atalanta asking price of €30m plus bonuses.

La Dea are also reticent to let Duvan Zapata go just days before the Serie A season kicks off, as they would find it very difficult to locate a suitable replacement.

He scored 19 goals with 14 assists in 49 competitive games for the Bergamo boys last season, between Serie A, the Champions League and Coppa Italia.

Under contract until June 2023, Atalanta are in a strong position to resist proposals.

  1. Why Baulk at this asking price ? You paid that much for a striker that had 1 goal and had 4 coaches only for none of them wanting the guy ! 30 mill for him is a good deal ……. if ausilio was running the mercato they would be asking 45 mill because if he’s dumb enough to pay that kind of money for Joao Mario why wouldn’t he pay that much for Duvan Zapata !
