Ahead of the same Serie A match, Inter wore jerseys featuring their social media handles rather than names and Cagliari’s shirt was from 1964.

The two sides took to the field representing very different sides of football at San Siro.

Inter chose to mark their first social media night by displaying tweets from fans on the advertising boards at the side of the pitch, Instagram Stories on the giant screens and jerseys that had the social media handles of players rather than their names.

Cagliari took the exact opposite approach, running out with a shirt that was based on the design used in their first ever Serie A season in 1964-65.

It’s a special edition that will be sold until April 20.

However, modern football was unaffected, because both Inter and Cagliari jerseys were used only when initially walking on to the field and not during the match itself.
