Napoli have issued a statement stating that Lorenzo Insigne’s surgery on his cruciate ligament knee injury has been successful.

An earlier statement from the club had confirmed the 23-year-old had suffered rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during yesterday’s win at Fiorentina.

The player has since undergone surgery this afternoon, with the operation handled by Professor Pier Paolo Mariani of Villa Stuart in Rome, taking one hour and 15 minutes to be completed.

Napoli have confirmed that the procedure was ‘a complete success’ but have not given an estimated return date for Insigne.

A cruciate ligament injury usually sidelines a player for at least six months.
